APRS Radio

Pre-launch

  • Configure the APRS and GPS for location telemetry and test

  • determine location in payload

  • attach and support the antenna

  • install the APRS and batteries, connect the antenna

  • Learn how to use the Yaesu Handheld for APRS tracking  and test

  • Learn how to use the GPS visualizer software to plot 3D tracks on Google Earth

  • Learn how to use the SPOT tracker, GPS receiver and APRS.FI website

Tracking and Recovery

Post-launch

  • follow the track and lead the team to the landing using APRS.FI, SPOT, GPS and Yaesu APRS radio.

APRS failed to transmit during flight and signal was only re-established after landing.  This allowed us to find our payload.

Flight Plotting

Post-recovery

  • graph the raw data packets obtained

    • Converting aprs.fi to 3d track:

http://www.gpsvisualizer.com/

Because of our loss of signal during flight, we did not have data packets during fligh
